Sandra Kay (Hopkins) Clark

Sandra Kay Hopkins Clark, age 63, entered the presence of the Lord on February 13, 2025, at 11:10 am. She fought a courageous battle against ovarian and fallopian tube cancers before being called home to rest due to cancer-related complications. Her final moments in this life were surrounded by her loving family at the University of Kentucky's Chandler Hospital. Her remains were cremated at her request.

Kay, God's faithful servant, was born in the elevator of St. Luke's Hospital in Bluefield, WV. She was employed on staff at the Christ-centered Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, which remained a caring and supportive community for her. She was extensively involved in Church ministries, notably at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in East Bend, NC and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, KY.

Kay is remembered for her self-giving love, resolute faith, and expansive kindness. She was delighted to wake her family on Sunday mornings by saying, "It's best to go to church." She was an adventurous spirit that brought life to holidays and family gatherings. She was a joy to accompany for camping, fishing, and trips to the beach. She was a devoted wife, a compassionate mother, and an adoring grandmother. She was relentless in her pursuit of fulfilling the great commission of cultivating disciples of Christ, especially within her family.

She is preceded by her mother Mabel Ann (maiden Thomason) Croy and her father Alfred Hopkins.

She is survived by her loving husband Richard Garland Clark, eldest son Richard Eugene Clark, youngest son Darrin Garland Clark, grandchild Gabriel Uriel Clark, sister Linda Gay Marsh, brother Alfred Douglas Hopkins, and daughters-in-law Lydia Mae Clark and Alyssa Antoinette Clark.

A memorial service will be held for Kay at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at 1515 Willisburg Road, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342 from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm (EST). Non-floral contributions may be sent to the Family of Kay Clark, 309 Bellevue Ave., Wilmore, KY 40390. Floral arrangements should be scheduled to be sent to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on the day of the memorial service. "Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about people who have died so that you won't mourn like others who don't have any hope. Since we believe that Jesus died and rose, so we also believe that God will bring with him those who have died in Jesus (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 CEB)."
