Norris Eldon Burkhead

Norris Eldon Burkhead, 81, husband of 61 years to Thelma Jean Walls Burkhead, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his residence.

He was born in Mt. Eden to the late Joe Riley and Mary Alice Abrams Burkhead. Mr. Burkhead was a 1961 graduate of Harrodsburg High School; member and elder at Pleasant Hill Christian Church; owner and operator at Burkhead Meat Processing; formerly worked for General Cable, Fisher Packing Company and Dawson and Baker Company; former member of Mt. Eden Ruritan Club; Mt. Eden Volunteer Fire Department; and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Along with his wife he is survived by three children, Norris Todd Burkhead, Rex Allen (Lisa) Burkhead, both of Lawrenceburg, Tami Jeanayne (Corby) Chapman, of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Aaron Allen (Taylor) Burkhead, Dillon Todd Burkhead, Hayden Clay (Brittney) Burkhead, Molly Kate (Andy Stepp) Burkhead, Lex Riley Burkhead, Skylar Layne Dennis and Carson Dayne Chapman; and great-grandson, Locke Allen Burkhead.

Mr. Burkhead was preceded in death by his brother, William Houston Burkhead.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Christian Church with Bro. Roy Temple, Jr. and Bro. Matthew Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Burkhead Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 10-2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church.

Casket bearers will be Aaron Burkhead, Dillon Burkhead, Lex Burkhead, Clay Burkhead, Phillip Scott Smita, John Houston Burkhead, Corby Chapman and Andy Stepp. Honorary bearers will be Larry Maddox, Daril Ulery, Bro. Truman McClain, Gayle Murphy and the Elders at Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
