Lesa Kay Dillon, 66, passed away on December 22, 2025, in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Born on May 11, 1959, in Dayton, Ohio to the late John Paul and Norma Charlene Stoneburner Dillon. Lesa lived a life marked by compassion and a deep commitment to animal welfare. She graduated from Belmont High School in Dayton and later the Nash Academy of Animal Arts. Lesa retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky after many years of dedicated service, primarily with the Department of Military Affairs. Yet her true calling was always animals.
Lesa owned and operated her own pet grooming business and worked as a veterinary technician at several clinics in Frankfort. She also worked at Stewart Home School and devoted countless hours to L.I.F.E. House for Animals, where she played a vital role for over a decade. Her most enduring contribution was the creation of the Help Fund—a program she founded to assist pet owners unable to afford medical care for their animals. Through her tireless efforts and collaborations with generous sponsors and veterinarians, hundreds of pets received lifesaving treatment. A devoted cat mom, Lesa shared her home with fourteen beloved feline companions at the time of her passing. Her boundless love for animals touched countless lives, and she was always ready to share her knowledge or help a distressed pet without hesitation.
Lesa is lovingly remembered by her brothers: Michael J. Dillon (Kathy) of Dayton; Patrick J. Dillon (Mary Ann) of Dayton; and Christopher M. Dillon (Deborah) of Lawrenceburg. She also leaves behind five nieces, one nephew, and great nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Paul Dillon and Norma Charlene Dillon and infant sister, Lynne Maria.
To love Lesa was to love all animals—and through them, her spirit endures. Love like Lesa. Love all people and animals with your heart and soul, give selflessly and generously to those in need, and cherish those you may call a friend.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in the spring of 2026. For notification details, please contact Chris Dillon at 502-229-0864.
