Julia (Gutierrez) Bookout

Julia G. Bookout was born on December 1, 1929, in Laredo, Texas. She passed away on January 18, 2022, in Lawrenceburg, KY.  She was affectionately called Juju by the family and friends who loved her.

Julia was predeceased by her parents, Ernesto Gutierrez, Sr. and Maximiana Castillo. Those who will mourn her passing but cherish the memories include her son, Jonathan A. Bookout; daughter, Maria J. Olson (Terry); granddaughter, Jamie L Abell (Jeremy); great grandson, Kai Abell; and sister, Concepcion "Toti" Elizondo (Camilo); cat, Susie; plus a host of other relatives and friends.  Other siblings who have gone before her:  Lamar Hutchinson and Ernesto Gutierrez (Ida).

Julia enjoyed much of her life in Corpus Christi, TX, Denton, TX, Stillwater OK, and Colorado Springs, CO.  She was a graduate from Oklahoma State University and avid football fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys (Go Pokes!).  Julia had a strong faith and love for the Lord.  She also fiercely loved family and her cat!  The neighborhood birds and flowers in her pot garden were also well cared for and tended with vigilance.

We are grateful for the following:  Hospice -  Bluegrass Care Navigators who helped us with a peaceful passing; Church of the Ascension for spiritual care and friendship; Anderson Public Library Community Outreach Service for delivering more than books; and Anderson County Senior Center for proving a place to connect.

In Julia's honor, celebrate life and family while you are able.  Plant a fruit tree.  Have a drink.  Eat the dessert first.  Live boldly!
