Johnny Walker Murphy, 60, of Lawrenceburg, husband for 43 years to Sheila Elizabeth Driskell Murphy, died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his residence.

He was born in Anderson County to the late George Alfred and Nellie Rachel Norton Murphy.  He was the Founder and President of the MBTPA; a Diesel Mechanic for Lawrenceburg Transfer for several years; and formerly worked in the warehouse at Wild Turkey Distillery.

Besides his wife, Mr. Murphy is survived by his daughter, Amy (John Stratton) Murphy; two sons, John Murphy and Christopher Murphy, all of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Rachel (Mick) Robinson, of Burgin, Sue (Clyde) Ritchey and Edie Murphy, Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Rodney (Wanda) Murphy and James (Annetta) Murphy, both of Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren, Jacob, Samara, Kennedy, Gracelyn, and Christopher Murphy, all of Lawrenceburg, and Levi Richardson, of Harrodsburg.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Wayne, Ben, Winford, and Jr.  Murphy, Walter Hahn; and a sister, Lucille Murphy.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Gash Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Murphy Cemetery in Anderson County.  Visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Casketbearers will be Johnny Caldwell, Kenny Smith, Kenny Hatchell, Rodney Sutton, Eddie Hatchett, Joe Stamper, and Eddie Thacker.  Honorary bearers will be Nikki Murphy, Charlie Ritchey, and Clyde Ritchey.
