James Edward Hawthorne

James Edward "Jim" Hawthorne, age 91, of Harrodsburg, widower of Nancy Robinson Hawthorne, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at Baptist Health in Lexington.

He was born in Anderson County to the late Virgil and Lydia Martin Hawthorne Case.  He was a member, Deacon, and former Trustee at Mt. Freedom Baptist Church; member of Emulation Masonic Lodge #688; farmer; retired from Square D after 25 years of service; and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Mr. Hawthorne is survived by his son, James Dayle (Jenny) Hawthorne, Harrodsburg; two granddaughters, Nicole (Jamie) Wilson, Harrodsburg, and Amy (Eric) Satterly, Lawrenceburg; four great-grandchildren, Michael (Kathryn Aldridge) Mills, Nicolas Wilson, Rachel Satterly, and Jenna Dayle Satterly; two great-great grandsons, Westin Mills and Mason Aldridge Mills; half-sister, Edith (Clinton Ray) Springate, Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Stoner; three brothers, Clyde, Paul, and Marvin Hawthorne; and his beloved dog, Duke.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Mt. Freedom Baptist Church with Bro. Jamie Chesser and Bro. John McDaniel officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery with military rites.  Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Gash Memorial Chapel with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m., and visitation after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
