James Emmett Gray, age 77, of Lawrenceburg, KY, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
He was born in Lawrenceburg, KY to the late Mary Bradley Gray McKee. He was a member of Second Christian Church; 1956 graduate of Lincoln Institute; and a former employee of Wild Turkey Boulevard Distillery where he retired as a warehouse supervisor.
He is survived by one son, Joey Penny, Lawrenceburg; daughters, Kimberly Ann Gray and Stephanie Penny, both of Lawrenceburg, and Susan Penny, Versailles; brother, Ronnie McKee; three sisters, Lois McKee (Earl) Harris, Connie McKee, and Mary Sue McKee; six grandchildren, Blake Penny, Amanda Greene, C.J. Penny, Cobe Penny, and Kayla Gray, all of Lawrenceburg and Amber (Stuart) Furlow, of Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Lexi and Aiden Greene and Caiden Spencer; special friend, Madeline Darnell, all of Lawrenceburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gray is preceded in death by one brother, Billy McKee.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Ramon Smith and Rev. Johnny Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Casketbearers will be Steven James, William McKee, Alonzo Gill, Ernie Guthrie, Paul Coffey, and William McKee. Honorary bearers will be Keith James, Raymond Murphy, Travers Vance, Connie Anderson, Scott Carpenter, Garland Harvey, Eugene Corley, Herman and Sherman Harvey.
