Harold Robert Byrd

Harold Robert Byrd, 55, of Bardstown, passed away on January 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold D. and Patricia Byrd.

Harold leaves behind his siblings: Debra Phillips, Pamela Frederick (Tim), Christopher S. Byrd, and Cathy Sneed (Chris); his cherished nieces: Valerie Phillips (Shane), Samantha Jennings (Robert), Katie Johnson (Stephen), Ashley Dennis (Jairus), Victoria Phillips, and Abigail Sneed; and thirteen great nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

Harold worked for Jefferson County Public Schools and had many friends and stories from his time at Carter Elementary. He was described as having a constant smile at work and giving kindness and care to his 600 students every day. Harold was a KHSAA and KBOA referee for 30 years. He had been named the Kentuckiana Basketball Officials Association's number one rated official in the recent past and was passionate about his time on the court. He was loved and respected by all his peers and was described as having grace, dignity, and the best sense of humor.

He loved his antique cars and taking them to car shows. He was a master on the grill and enjoyed hosting his family for cookouts and gatherings making sure he kept his family close. The memories of Harold will live on forever through his family and friends. Harold was a fighter and beat cancer twice without a single complaint.
