Garnett William Preston

Garnett William Preston, 93, of Georgetown, widower of Lola Murphy Preston, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at the UK Medical Center.

He was born to the late Albert and Maggie Divine Preston in Mackville, KY.  He was a faithful member at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; served in the United States Army during WWII; and worked in construction.

Mr. Preston is survived by one son, Garnett Lee Preston, of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Connie Beeler, Bonnie Sharp, Ronnie (Stephanie) Mann, Garnett L. Preston, Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Margaret Masterson; and good friends, Carol and Daryl Hayden.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Billy Preston; daughter-in-law, Opal Preston; and 5 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Randy Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1 prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be Garnett L. Preston, Jr., Ronnie Mann, Cody Sharp, Tim Beeler, Brandon Barron, Eric Vaughn, and Darrell Haydon.
