Col. Eugene A. Waterfill, 95, of Marietta passed away peacefully at his home Monday, August 8, 2016.

Colonel Waterfill served his country in the Air Force. He fought in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a navigator and dropped parachuters in the June 6, 1944 D-Day invasion of Normandy. After he retired from the Air Force in 1968 he came to Marietta, GA and worked at Lockheed Martin as the plant rep until his retirement.

He lived a rich and fulfilling life and had a positive impact on many lives through his kindness, generosity and devotion to his family and friends. He will be missed greatly.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Lee Waterfill of Marietta, Carol M. Waterfill of Atlanta; one son, David A. Waterfill of Buchanan; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel M. Waterfill and daughter, Judith A. Waterfill and son, John Allen Waterfill.

A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Powers Ferry United Methodist Church in Marietta. Interment will be in Lawrenceburg Cemetery in Kentucky. There will be a graveside service at Lawrenceburg Cemetery Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 4-7p.m. at Gash Memorial Chapel.
