Emma Jean Carney Hood, 91, of Lawrenceburg, widow of Andrew Hood, died Monday, April 1, 2024 at Signature Healthcare at Heritage Hall.
She was born in Louisville, KY on February 19, 1933 to the late Erma Bernard and James Shanley Carney. She was a graduate of Bloomfield High School; member at First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir; and retired from Kentucky State Parks where she worked for over 27 years.
Emma is survived by her two sons, Gregory Lee (Carol) Hood, of Lexington and Douglas Allen (Tamyra) Hood, of Mt. Sterling; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Jane Hood, Lexington, Zachary (Ashley) Hood, Mt. Sterling, Emilee Hood, Richmond and Erika Hood. Mt. Sterling; 4 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Eli, Joanna and Lydia Hood, all of Mt. Sterling; brother, Ted (Katie) Carney, New Albany, IN; sister, Aileen Demattos, Lawrenceburg; several nieces and nephews; and a new great-granddaughter coming April 2024 Noa Kate Hood.
Along with her parents and spouse she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny and Billy Ray Carney; and sister, Mary Alice Snider.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Noon & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Robert F. Ehr officiating. Burial will follow in Highview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. and on Friday from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.
