Donald Raymond Dennis, Sr.

Donald Raymond Dennis, Sr., 87, of Waddy, KY husband of 61 years to Jo Donna Jewell Dennis, died Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Baptist East in Louisville.

He was born in Shelbyville, KY to the late RC and Ruby Sutherland Dennis. Donald was a devoted husband and father; member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church where he served as a Deacon; and a song leader for over 30 years at Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a 1955 graduate of Anderson County High School and tobacco farmer.  He retired after 25 years of service from the Department of Transportation where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. In his spare time Donald enjoyed singing gospel and country music and playing the bass. He was a former member of the Spencer County Ramblers, Good Ol' Boys, Arnold Clarks Band, and Ronald Rhodes Band. He also volunteered for Senior Citizens where he entertained them frequently.

Along with his wife he is survived by two sons, Donald R. (Staci) Dennis and Jeffrey Dennis, both of Mount Eden; two grandchildren, Alex T. (Brittany) Dennis and Skylar L. Dennis; one great-grandson, Reed Allen Dennis, all of Mount Eden; and sister, Judy C. Goodlett, Frankfort.

Donald was preceded in death by a grandson, Allen R.C. Scott Dennis.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 24, 2022 at Gash Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Roy Temple, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 9-11 a.m. Monday prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be Scott Goodlett, Justin Goodlett, Alex Dennis, Brian Temple, Doug Goodlett, David Barnes, David Jewell and Damon Jewell. Honorary bearers will be Charles M. Jewell, Wilbert Jewell, Jr., John Clemmons, Jim Berger, Mike Jewell and Skylar Dennis.
