David Harold Murphy

I am heartbroken to announce the death of my Daddy, David Harold Murphy. He passed away October 30th, 2022. He had been battling lung cancer. He was 63. He was born May 2, 1959 in Frankfort, Kentucky. He grew up in the Thorn Hill area. He left behind a grandson (Waylon Murphy), a daughter (Sarah Beth Murphy-McKaig), a son-in-law (Mark McKaig), two sisters (Becky Sudduth and Sherleen Walton) and one brother (Timmy Murphy). He was preceded in death by a son (David Jeremy Murphy) and his mother and father (Shirley and Harold Murphy). Daddy had many qualities, I have trouble deciding which to convey. He was the wisest, most intelligent person I have ever known. Thoughtful comes to mind, by all definitions. He was a deep-thinker, a natural genius, but also compassionate beyond measure. He had the best laugh, he was funny and witty, we laughed a lot.

He loved good conversation, telling stories, philosophy, and anything in between. He always said, "Good conversation was never saying the same thing twice." He lived such a full life he never had to say the same thing twice.

Daddy was a strong and hard-working man. He earned an associate's degree in electronics, worked for Fruit of the Loom for years, and then Kentucky Utilities for almost 20 years.

He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, movies, music, and spending time with his family and friends.

He loved Jesus. He told me he hoped to have a front row seat in Heaven one day. I hope I do too, because I cannot wait to hug him once more. He was my best friend.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Gash Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Josh Rayborn officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1pm prior to the service.
