Corine (Satterly) Chilton

Corine Satterly Chilton, 95, of Lawrenceburg, widow of John Hansford Chilton, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at her residence.

She was born in Mercer County to the late George Merritt and Nettie Vertam Taylor Satterly.  She was a 1937 graduate of Fairview High School; member of Claylick United Methodist Church for 68 years, along with the Sunshine Sunday School Class and Ladies Circle; and retired from Anderson County Board of Education after working in the cafeteria for many years.

Mrs. Chilton is survived by two daughters, Wanda Chilton Gash, Lawrenceburg, and Rita (Danny) Downey, Winfield, WV; 5 grandchildren, Tabitha Gash Lilly and Tiffany Gash (Philip) Azzinaro, both of Lawrenceburg, Lesley (Greg) McCray, Danielle (Shawn) Gillispie, and Danny Dale (Leslie) Downey, all of West Virginia; 9 great-granchildren, Layne Lilly, Dylan and Carson Azzinaro, all of Lawrenceburg, Kalyn and Evan McCray, Peyton and Adyson Gillispie, Bryce and Aubrey Downey, all of West Virginia; and special friend, Kenneth Gill.

She was preceded in death by a son, Hansford Leon Chilton; brother, J.F. Satterly; and son-in-law, Woody Gash.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Dr. Lowell Langfeld and Bro. Shannon Blosser officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery.  Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday.

Casketbearers will be Kenneth Gill, B.R. Chilton, Carroll Taylor, Ray Downey, David Booth, and Carroll Sutherland.  Honorary bearers will be Katherine Jeffries, Lucille White, Nancye Hyatt, Nancy Downey, Ruby Frances and Marion Wilson, Betty Warford, Kathy Booth, Donna Young, Helena Burns, and Norma Dennis.
